AKCENTA generated record profit last year

AKCENTA’s profit reached almost CZK 74 million last year. The financial institution successfully exploited the high volatility on the foreign exchange market and companies’ need to hedge against exchange rate risk.

Hradec Králové, 12 April 2022 - AKCENTA CZ, a payment institution that provides foreign payment services and forex operations primarily for exporters and importers, has posted net profit of CZK 73.1 million for 2021. This meant that the company “gifted” itself a record result for its 25th anniversary. This outcome was mainly thanks to high client demand for exchange rate risk hedging partially caused by volatility on the foreign exchange market, an overall larger number of client transactions, and also the successful launch of the new Zalep.to invoice financing product.

“The pandemic-related uncertainty returned in waves and repeatedly rocked the foreign exchange market, causing higher client demand for both spot operations and exchange rate risk hedging. For example, last year we provided 13% more hedging compared to 2020, a year already unusual in this regard. We also succeeded in increasing our market share on all six European markets and in achieving high effectiveness. Together, this resulted in the most successful economic result in AKCENTA’s 25-year history,” said Milan Cerman, chair of the AKCENTA CZ board, commenting on the results, adding, “I am also pleased with the success of the Zalep.to platform, which we first offered to our clients on the Czech market last year. It has been shown to be precisely the type of financial instrument some of our clients want to use.”
