The Polish zloty (PLN), also known as złotówka, has been the official currency of Poland since 1924. It is divided into 100 groszy. After a break during World War II and a period of high inflation in the 1990s, a denomination was introduced where 10,000 old zloty equaled 1 new zloty. These steps helped stabilize the currency.
